Suprascapular and Axillary Nerve Radiofrequency Ablation

Suprascapular and Axillary nerve Radiofrequency Ablation is a common treatment option for many forms of shoulder pain.

The goal of the procedure is pain relief to provide longer lasting benefit than just an injection. Suprascapular and Axillary nerve Radiofrequency ablation delivers medication and heat directly (or very near) the source of pain generation, over the nerves that causes the joint of the shoulder to hurt. The x-ray (fluoroscope) guided procedure includes a local anesthetic and a special probe that delivers heat. The anesthetic interrupts the pain signal transmission, and the heat disrupts the pain transmitted by the nerve.
