Discseel® Procedure in Houston, TX
The Discseel® Procedure is available in Houston at Performance Pain and Sports Medicine, located in the T-Mobile Tower on the Southwest Freeway. I was the first physician in Houston trained to perform Discseel® and have offered this non-surgical disc repair treatment since 2020. As one of only three Master Discseel® Instructors worldwide, I bring the highest level of expertise to patients seeking an alternative to spinal fusion. Our location near the Texas Medical Center makes it ideal for both Houston residents and patients traveling from across the country or internationally for this procedure.
Why Choose Houston for Your Discseel® Procedure?
Houston has emerged as a leading destination for patients seeking the Discseel® Procedure. When I began offering this treatment in 2020, I became the first physician in Houston trained to perform this non-surgical disc repair. Since then, I’ve helped patients from across the Gulf Coast region and beyond find lasting relief from chronic disc pain without spinal fusion surgery.
Patients choose Houston for Discseel® because they gain access to a Master Instructor-level provider without traveling to distant specialty centers. My practice sits near the intersection of I-59 and the 610 West Loop, minutes from the Galleria, River Oaks, and the Texas Medical Center. Whether you live in Bellaire, Sugar Land, The Woodlands, or are flying in from out of state, our central Houston location offers convenient access to world-class spine care.

Houston's Discseel® Expert
My path to becoming Houston’s leading Discseel® provider began with direct training under Dr. Kevin Pauza, the inventor of the procedure. That mentorship gave me not just technical proficiency, but a deep understanding of patient selection, diagnostic precision, and post-procedure optimization that comes only from learning directly from the source.
Today, I hold a position that fewer than a handful of physicians worldwide can claim: Master Discseel® Instructor. This designation means I don’t just perform the procedure—I train other physicians in the technique. When you choose my Houston practice, you’re choosing the physician who teaches others how to do this correctly.
My expertise extends beyond Discseel®. I serve as a consultant for several medical device companies and lecture internationally on advanced spine treatments. I’ve taught in Germany multiple times and will be presenting in Israel in March 2026. This global perspective ensures my Houston patients benefit from the latest innovations in regenerative spine care.

What My Houston Patients Are Saying
The experiences of patients who’ve undergone Discseel® at my Houston practice speak to what’s possible when disc damage is addressed at its source rather than masked with temporary measures.
“I had herniations on all my lumbar discs on both sides of my spine and also on the first sacral disc. I couldn’t walk without leaning on something and was in constant pain. Went to a spine surgeon who wanted to fuse my bottom lumbar disc to my sacral disc… “
— L.L., Houston
“Previous pain specialists had dismissed the lower back pain I have had for more than three years as age related and, therefore, not likely to improve significantly. Dr. Wiederholz, however, provided me with hope for healing by performing the Discseel procedure…”
— C.M., Houston
“I had been in incapacitating pain and suffering from lumbar back pain for over a year due to herniated discs, Dr Wiederholz recommended the novel Discseel procedure and I can’t be happier with the results, 5 months after the procedure I’m feeling amazing…”
— D.G., Houston
“Within 2 days, I’ve noticed a good reduction in pain, and within 4-5 days, the majority of the pain was gone – amazing! It is now 4 weeks post-procedure. As expected, some residual herniation-related pain still remains, but a vast majority of the pain (80%) is gone…”

Traveling to Houston for Discseel®
Patients travel to Houston from across the United States for Discseel® at my practice. Houston’s position as a major medical hub—anchored by the Texas Medical Center, the largest medical complex in the world—makes it an ideal destination for specialized spine care.
What to know if you’re traveling for your procedure:
Length of Stay
Most out-of-town patients need only one day in Houston. The procedure itself takes 45-60 minutes, and patients typically walk out within 30 minutes afterward. You can fly in the morning of your procedure and return home the same day or the following morning, depending on your travel distance and comfort level.
Airports
Houston is served by two major international airports. George Bush Intercontinental (IAH) and William P. Hobby (HOU) are both approximately equidistant from my office. Both offer extensive domestic and international connections.
Hotels
The Galleria area, just minutes from my office, offers numerous hotel options at every price point. Patients often stay at properties near the Galleria or in the Greenway Plaza area for convenient access.
Transportation
You will need someone to drive you home after the procedure. If traveling alone, arrange for a car service or have a companion accompany you.
Consultation Options
For patients in Texas, initial consultations can be conducted via telemedicine, allowing me to review your MRI and discuss candidacy before your procedure date. Patients outside of Texas can upload their MRI through our secure cloud portal for review; an in-person consultation may be required depending on your location. Contact my office to discuss the best option for your situation.
Your Path to Discseel® in Houston
The journey from consultation to procedure follows a straightforward path designed to ensure you’re an appropriate candidate and fully prepared for optimal outcomes.
Step 1: Consultation and MRI Review
We begin with a comprehensive evaluation—either in person at my Houston office or via telemedicine for Texas residents. I personally review your MRI to assess disc damage, identify annular tears, and determine whether Discseel® can address your specific condition. Not everyone is a candidate, and this honest assessment protects you from undergoing a procedure unlikely to help.
Step 2: Procedure Day
On procedure day, you’ll arrive at my Houston facility where I perform a diagnostic annulogram—a specialized imaging study that identifies exactly which discs are leaking and causing your pain. The Discseel® fibrin sealant is then precisely injected into the damaged discs. The entire process takes 45-60 minutes. No general anesthesia is required; most patients receive IV sedation or local anesthesia for comfort. You’ll walk out within 30 minutes of completion.
Step 3: Recovery and Healing
The weeks following your procedure involve allowing the fibrin sealant to incorporate into your disc tissue. Expect mild soreness for 2-4 weeks as healing begins. Activity restrictions—avoiding twisting, heavy lifting, and high-impact movements—apply for 3-6 months to allow proper collagen regeneration. Most patients notice significant improvement within the first few months, with continued gains over 6-12 months as the discs strengthen.
Is Discseel® Right for You?
Discseel® works best for patients with documented disc damage—degenerative disc disease, herniated discs, or annular tears—who have not found lasting relief from conservative treatments but want to avoid spinal fusion.
Ideal candidates typically have:
- Chronic back or neck pain lasting more than 3-6 months
- MRI evidence of disc degeneration, herniation, or annular tears
- Pain that has not adequately responded to physical therapy, injections, or medications
- A desire to avoid or delay spinal fusion surgery
- Realistic expectations about the healing timeline (3-6 months for significant improvement)
Discseel® may not be appropriate for patients with severe spinal instability, certain types of spinal stenosis, or those who require immediate surgical intervention for neurological deficits.
During your consultation, I’ll provide an honest assessment of whether this procedure can realistically address your condition.
